Replacing an Existing Pump vs. New Well Pump Installation
Most calls we get are to replace a pump that's already failing but if you're finishing a new well, converting a property to well water or your current pump was never properly sized for the house, that's a well water pump installation rather than a straight swap. The evaluation is similar either way: well depth, static water level, and household water demand all factor into which pump and pressure tank setup makes sense. If you're not sure which situation you're in, that's exactly what the on-site evaluation is for — call 484-332-3573 and we'll sort it out before quoting anything.

John did a great job replacing our grinder pump in our basement. His communication leading up to him arriving and while he was on site was on point. He was in and out in under an hour and a half. As far as the company as a whole, I reached out to multiple plumbers, and I found this one to have great customer service, very reasonable prices, and just an overall great experience. We would definitely go back to Berks Plumbing and HVAC for any needs we have in the future. Thanks to John, and the entire team!Posted on Google Donna EsdaleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our well pump decided to stop working on us over the weekend. We called Burke’s plumbing specialist and made an appointment for the next day. I’m Mike showed up this morning on time and really did a great job on estimating the work. 1-1-2 hours later Jose and luke show up, again two more hard working get it done guys. Fast, worked great together as a team and just got it done. Cleaned up after themselves really did a good job. I couldn’t be happier Thank youPosted on Google William BowmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Technicians were great. Once on site the repair was completed in 15 minutes. Price was ridiculously high.Posted on Google Boo BearTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The central A/C in my small home (1104 square feet) was blowing warm air during a heat wave, so I called and spoke with Mike, who communicated with me in a friendly manner. He asked me if I could leave the door open while I was at work, or leave a key, which wasn’t something I felt comfortable with. So I was grateful when a technician came out and checked my outdoor unit without needing me home. Once I got a call back, I was told that my outdoor unit was totally shot and the indoor unit would have to be replaced as well due to updated freon regulations. I asked how they could be so sure, considering my indoor unit is much newer than my outdoor unit, and nobody had seen it yet. They then asked me how old it is, and I estimated it was 13 years old. I was quoted a price of $15,816 (yes, almost sixteen thousand dollars) without being given options on equipment or pricing. I was encouraged to apply for financing or find a family member who could lend me money. I was also given an “8% discount” to help, and strongly urged to have the system replaced the following day. I decided to get a second opinion out of necessity, and that company came out and fixed my central A/C for $350, by replacing the capacitor which had failed and wasn’t starting the fan (hence the warm air). I would recommend always getting a second opinion because what one technician thinks may vastly differ from what another may find, and you could save yourself thousands of dollars.

You Have Questions, We Have Answers
FAQ
Plumbing and HVAC issues can disrupt daily comfort, from leaks to heating problems. Our team provides reliable solutions for your home. Have questions about your system?
How long does a residential well pump typically last?
Most residential well pumps last between 8 and 15 years, depending on water usage, system design and maintenance history. If your equipment is nearing the end of its lifespan, contact our team to discuss replacement options.
What factors affect well pump replacement cost for house?
Well pump replacement cost depends on the type of pump, well depth, whether the pressure tank or switch also needs replacing, and how accessible the existing equipment is. We don't quote by phone for this reason — an accurate number requires seeing the well and the current setup. Call 484-332-3573 to schedule an evaluation and get a written quote on-site.
How long does a well water pump installation take?
Installation times vary depending on your system configuration and the type of equipment being installed. Our plumbers will inspect your well system and provide a clear timeline before work begins.
Can I replace only the well pump without replacing the entire system?
In many cases, yes. Our plumbers will inspect your existing equipment and determine whether replacing only the well pump is the most practical solution for your home's water needs.
How much does new well pump installation cost?
New well pump installation cost depends on well depth, pump type, and whether a pressure tank and switch need to be installed alongside it — new installs sometimes need additional components that a straight replacement doesn't. We'll walk the site, confirm what your well actually needs and give you a clear quote before any work starts.
